Universiti Teknologi Malaysia is the oldest public engineering and technology university in Malaysia, and one of the most famous public universities in Malaysia. The main campus of the university is located at the southernmost point of the Malaysian Peninsula, covering an area of 1177 hectares. In addition, there is a campus in the center of Kuala Lumpur, covering an area of 18 hectares. The establishment of the school can be traced back to 1904, when it was only a technical school that trained technical professionals for the country. In 1946, it was upgraded to a college and named the Technical College. On March 14, 1972, it was upgraded to the National Technical College and on April 1, 1975, it was finally named the Malaysian Polytechnic University.
